Maintenance Tips for Stand Mixers

Cleaning after Use

  • Remove the mixing bowl and attachments including the wire whip, dough hook, flat beater and the pouring shield.
  • Put them in a dishwasher. However if your stand mixer attachments are not dishwasher-safe, then go to next step.
  • Soak the mixing bowl and all attachments in a kitchen sink filled with warm water and dish soap.
  • Use a sponge to clean the mixing bowl and attachments gently.
  • Thoroughly dry the mixing bowl and attachments, and wipe the body of the stand mixer with a soft damp towel.
  • Keep the entire stand mixer in a dry place or cabinet.

Monthly Cleaning Routine

Every stand mixer has vents for airflow inside the motor. The cleaner this part is, the smoother the stand mixer will operate. Therefore, it will help if you clean the vents of your stand mixer monthly with a toothbrush and a soft cloth to ensure optimum performance.

To begin with, you could use a brush to remove any dust from the vents. If the dust is hard, we recommend spraying some baking soda mixed with water before brushing. Next, wipe these vents with a warm damp cloth.

Annual Cleaning Routine

Every other year, it’s necessary to perform a deep cleaning on your stand mixer. Especially when the frequency of use is the highest, deep cleaning is essential.

  • Use a dry toothbrush to scrub the parts of the mixer, such as the speed control panel and attachment hub.
  • Wipe around the mixing head with a damp cloth.
  • Lower the appliance to clean the bottom of and around the bottom of the mixer.
  • Wait for the equipment to dry and store it properly.
