Recipe of Today: Sponge Cake
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- ¼ cup milk
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a round cake pan with butter or cooking spray.
- In the mixing bowl of your Kitchenin KM50 Stand Mixer, add the eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Attach the whisk attachment and beat the mixture on medium speed until it becomes light and fluffy, approximately 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sea salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a dense cake.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly using a spatula. Give the pan a gentle tap on the countertop to remove any air bubbles.
- Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Avoid opening the oven door during the first 20 minutes to prevent the cake from sinking.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate your sponge cake with your favorite frosting, fresh fruits, or a dusting of powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!
