Recipe of Today: Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients:
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 ½ cups whipping cream
- 8 ounces semi sweet baking chocolate, chopped
- 2 tsps vanilla extract
For Garnish: (anything you like)
- whipped cream
- shaved chocolate
- nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews, coconuts, hazelnuts and more)
- fruits (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas and more)
Instructions:
- Beat egg yolks in the bowl of your Kitchenin KM50 Stand Mixer with the whisk attachment for 3 minutes, until thickened. Gradually add the sugar while beating.
- Heat 1 cup cream in a small saucepan until hot. Turn on your KM50 Stand Mixer and pour 1/2 of the hot cream into the eggs. Once combined, pour the mixture into the pan with the remaining 1/2 cup of the cream. Reduce heat to low and cook until thickened, stirring constantly for about 5 minutes.
- Add vanilla extract, then add the chocolate in 3 batches and stir over low heat until melted and smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a large bowl, cover and chill in the fridge for 1.5-2 hours, stirring every 20-30 minutes. Once no longer warm, remove from refrigerator and whip the remaining 1 1/2 cups heavy cream to stiff peaks. Fold the cream into the cooled chocolate mixture.
- Use a spoon to place the mouse in the small glass container. Cover and place in the fridge until ready to serve. Garnish with fresh whipped cream, shaved chocolate, nuts and fresh fruits, basically anything you like. Enjoy!
