10 Reasons Why We Love Food

10 Reasons Why We Love Food

6. It allows you to learn about a new country/culture in a new way.

It's so fun and interesting to travel to new countries and try their native food. It allows you to learn more about their culture without anyone having to say anything. Homemade pasta in Italy, artisanal tortillas in the hut on a service trip to Guatemala, or even fresh strawberries picked from a farm in Indiana can all teach you more about the lives of people living in different parts of the world.

7. It shows people that you care.

You screwed up and you want to make up to your friend? Take her to your favorite place for dinner. Your sister just had her wisdom teeth pulled, a mix of pain and emotion? Surprise her with Wendy's frosting, applesauce, and your favorite movie. Today is your mom's birthday, but can't you go home? Send her flowers, a cake from Lady M and a birthday card.

Food is a great way to show people that you care. People always bring a hostess gift to their friend's house - usually wine, dessert or other type of treat. Every time I go somewhere, I always find myself saying, "Do you want me to bring anything?" It's all about making this little gesture by picking up a box of cookies on the way to the party. It's different, and it shows how much you care.

8. It inspires people.

How many times have you seen a healthy living-focused food account on Instagram and been immediately inspired to make their version of healthy avocado toast? Or see a photo of the biggest milkshake in NYC and decide to go the next time you're in the city? Food can inspire everyone. The aesthetics of food pages and blogs can inspire creativity, the recipes seen on the Food Network can inspire late-night dinners, and the world of Pinterest can make Martha Stewart feel inside almost everyone.

9. It makes you feel good.

While I'm unlikely to say no to sweets or a slice of pizza, there's no denying that eating healthy will make you feel good inside and out. When you eat healthy and take care of yourself, you will be more energetic, look more alive, and definitely feel more confident. Healthy foods like fruits and vegetables will make you feel good, and a lifestyle full of healthy eating can make a person's life better.

10. It tastes good.

Despite all the other wonderful things food brings to the table, people eat food for its taste. Whether it's the sweetness of glazed doughnuts or the spiciness of wasabi on sushi rolls, eating and enjoying delicious food is the life of a food lover.

In conclusion, the food is far more than it appears. It is powerful and can change people's daily lives. Now that you've read this, I hope you know more about food and are able to recognize its impact and the next time someone sends you a box of chocolates on Valentine's Day or invites you to a dinner party for a small high school reunion.

Happy “I LOVE FOOD” Day!
